PLM Data Migration Expert

This role involves leading the end-to-end data migration process from a legacy PLM system to a new cloud-based PLM platform. The project focuses on moving item, BOM, change, and file vault data, ensuring accurate mapping, transformation, validation, and seamless loading. The expert will manage both full data loads and incremental changes, enabling coexistence between the old and new systems until full cutover. This position requires strong technical skills in data extraction, quality validation, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze legacy PLM schema to design accurate extraction logic for various data structures.
  • Develop and optimize SQL/PLSQL/SDK-based extraction programs for high-volume objects and revisions.
  • Perform data profiling, completeness checks, referential integrity validation, and error triage.
  • Implement logic to extract full revision history, not just the latest revision.
  • Tune queries, indexes, and batch logic to reduce extraction time and improve throughput.
  • Handle file vault extraction, managing file paths, metadata, and preparing content for cloud ingestion.
  • Deliver clean, structured extract files/tables for downstream transformation and mapping.
  • Participate in iterative mock runs, troubleshoot failures, and refine extraction logic.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Oracle Agile PLM data structures and migration processes.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and SDK for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Strong understanding of data quality validation and integrity checks.
  • Experience with revision-based data extraction.
  • Ability to optimize database queries and batch processes for performance.
  • Familiarity with file vault handling and content ingestion strategies.
  • Experience in supporting dry runs and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Excellent cross-team collaboration skills with PLM, DBA, and integration teams.
