Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
A pioneering biosensor technology company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture of wearable medical devices. This role involves taking products from early concept through design transfer and volume manufacturing. The successful candidate will work directly with the founding team and a multidisciplinary engineering group, setting the mechanical direction for highly miniaturized, body-worn products. This is a hands-on senior position focused on owning the mechanical design end-to-end, mentoring others, and shaping product development processes.

Responsibilities
- Own and lead the mechanical architecture of wearable medical devices.
- Drive miniaturization and integration, packaging complex functionality into small form factors.
- Set mechanical design standards, CAD practices, and design review processes.
- Lead the design of injection molded, overmolded, and precision components from concept to production.
- Define mechanical requirements, design specifications, and architecture documentation.
- Lead tolerance analysis and statistical tolerancing for critical assemblies.
- Own mechanical risk management, leading DFMEA activities.
- Define and oversee verification and validation strategies, including reliability and environmental testing.
Requirements
- Master's degree with 4+ years of industry experience in mechanical or biomedical engineering.
- Track record of taking medical devices or consumer wearables from concept to volume manufacture.
- Experience leading mechanical design of highly miniaturized or densely integrated products.
- Expert CAD and drafting skills, including complex assemblies, surfacing, GD&T, and manufacturing tolerances.
- Extensive experience designing injection molded plastic components for volume manufacture.
- Experience leading tolerance stack analysis and applying statistical tolerancing.
- Experience designing sealed, leak-tight, or ingress-protected assemblies and developing test methods.
- Experience leading DFMEA and applying structured risk management in line with ISO 14971.
