A leading medical remote monitoring company is seeking a Data Reliability Engineer to join its Data Reliability Engineering (DRE) team. This role involves building, operating, and securing a data platform that handles healthcare data from production services to internal operational teams, clinical research users, and external partners. The successful candidate will ensure data arrives on time, complete, traceable, and secure, transforming manual procedures into automated, monitored, and reproducible pipelines. Responsibilities
- Build and operate data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and export.
- Develop tooling for pipelines using infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm on Kubernetes) and manage deployment, CI/CD, and secrets.
- Monitor data quality and pipeline health with dashboards, alerting, and observability tools.
- Define and enforce data contracts, schemas, and quality tests with emitting teams.
- Deliver secure data exports to external partners and institutions.
- Provision and maintain dedicated PostgreSQL Research Spaces with access control.
- Industrialize dbt projects to scale data modeling efforts.
- Collaborate directly with requesters to scope needs, deliver solutions, and document work.
Requirements
- 4-6 years in data engineering, platform engineering, or backend development with strong infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Python for production-grade code (tests, typing, CI).
- Experience building and operating data pipelines and orchestration (Prefect, Airflow, Dagster) including event streams (Kafka) and object storage (S3, SFTP).
- Advanced SQL skills on PostgreSQL (indexing, query plans, incremental loads).
- Expertise with dbt (macros, Jinja, multi-target projects, incremental strategies, tests, CI integration).
- Ability to deploy and operate infrastructure using Terraform, Helm/Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD, with robust monitoring and alerting.
- Strong communication skills to interact with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience operating production pipelines and being accountable for them.
